As an outdoor enthusiast, I have owned many lanterns and lights over the years. I recently had the opportunity to test and review this tent light by suboos. I really like this light and it has many features and offers much versatility. Here is my impression.

    **************************************************************************************************************************************************************

    Size
This tent light is small in size and is extremely lightweight. It is about 4 1/2 inches round and about 2 1/2 inches deep. That’s a very compact size, so it’s easy to pack.

    *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************

    Batteries
This light doesn’t come with any batteries provided, so you must provide your own. You can power it with either (3)AAA’s or (1) Li-Ion 18650. I prefer the 18650 route, because generally speaking, Li-Ions provide a brighter light and power it longer. I also have many 18650 batteries and a nice charger. I would recommend going this route, but it’s nice that the option for AAA’s was provided. You can never have too much versatility. When you are in the middle of nowhere or during an extended power outage, this feature may really come in handy. Once again you MUST get your own batteries.

    *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************

    Lantern operation
This lantern is operated by a single red push button on the side. It has 3 brightness levels. These brightness levels are:
    Super Bright (60 LEDS on)
    Bright (17 LEDS on)
    Dim (5 LEDS on)
One push the red button turns on the softest mode dim. This is great that it defaults to this mode first, so it isn’t blinding and alarming. It provides enough light in this mode to look for something in a tent. This mode only burns 5 LEDS so expect a long runtime on a single battery charge. One more push of the button goes to bright mode and 17 LEDS are on. This mode is plenty bright for just about anything you would need to do while in a tent or camping. I would say this is probably my favorite mode, because it provides a good balance of brightness and battery life. A third press of the button turns on super bright and all 60 LEDS are on. This mode is extremely bright and blinding. It’s as bright as you will ever need. Battery life will be considerably less in this mode, so use it sparingly. A fourth button push turns it off, and you cycle trough the modes all over again.

I haven’t had a chance to do a detailed runtime test on this product yet, but I plan on updating this review with those results very shortly. The results may vary greatly from your results tho, because of different batteries used. My results will be from 2600Mah 18650 batteries.

One other thing about this that you need to know. This is a tent lantern. It is made to hang inside a dry tent. It is not waterproof. That would be a nice feature, but the battery compartment is on top, and if this lantern was subjected to rain, It would ruin it. Make sure to keep it dry, if you want it to last.

The tent light comes with a plastic S clip for hanging inside a tent. This is sure to be a convenient way to hang this tent light.

    Customer Support and Warranty Information
I’ve tested a couple different products from Suboos now and have reached out to them to answer questions I’ve had about the products. In my experience, they always replied quickly and were knowledgable about my questions. Although I received this product at a discounted rate to test and review, I feel it is my duty to put out as knowledgable and straightforward of a review as I possibly could, so obtaining more info from the manufacturer was necessary. I highly doubt anyone would have anything negative to say about Customer Support. In my experience, It was outstanding.

The LED Tent Lantern is backed up by SUBOOS: 60 days MONEY BACK with any reason under any condition, 12 months manufacturer warranty for material and workmanship.

    Conclusion
I’m impressed with this product. There isn’t too much that I can see needs improved. About the only way to improve this product would be to make it waterproof. But it serves it’s purpose as a nice tent light and provides plenty of illumination. It offers versatility and portability. haven’t had this light a…

SUBOOS Ultra Bright Portable LED Tent Light

This is a very capable light. It arrived today and I took it to my test room, the laundry room with no windows and shut the door. It has 3 modes of light, each mode increases the number of LEDs that light up.

The three modes provide increasing light. I tried the first one, it provided enough light to see in the room but you could not read by it. The second mode puts on quite a few more LEDs and it was bright enough to see by and read by. The third mode was quite bright. I could see well and reading was no problem anywhere in the room with the light hung overhead.

The light is sturdy. I dropped it 3 times from counter height onto a tile floor and no damage. Putting the batteries in requires that you look at “+” and “-” markings on the battery cradle. So if you put the batteries in and the light doesn’t work, try again. This is experience speaking. It takes 3 AAA batteries in an opening on the top. This light is not waterproof.

This is a very nice light that will see many long summer nights in the tent.

This is a great light for camping, it easily hangs in the middle of the tent and provides enough light for the whole tent. It has bright LED lights, which really help keep it bright but it also seems to make the batteries last longer as well! It has three different brightness’s which is excellent if you have children who still prefer to have some light in the tent at night. Very easy to use and very convenient. Seems like it is fairly well made as well, no sharp edges or damaged pieces.

I received this item at a discount for my honest opinion.

Got this for a weekend camping trip to fossil creek AZ. It was pretty awesome! Friends were digging it. Kept super gnarly bugs out of all sizes and levels of aggression.

    Pros
    – The set up takes about 3 seconds. To put it back in the back takes about 5 seconds.
    – good quality , seems sturdy , will use again without fear of breakage
    – sleeps 2. I am 6’3″ and my friend is about 5’10. My toes were touching 1 end of the tent with about 3 inches between the top of my head, so it was snug for me , but i DID sleep without having to curl up.We slept comfortably as far as the roominess of the tent goes.
    – has an easy detachable rainfly for hotter climates like AZ . airflow is mandatory here so the ventilation is nice when removing the rainfly
    – stores easily, is lightweight.
    – has mesh pockets inside for storing stuff
    – looks nice
    – 1 piece tent. 1 piece. No assembly required. No poles to push through holes.

    Con’s
    – no con’s except if you’re a tall person, above 6’3, I’d recommend getting this product but the NEXT SIZE UP for an extra $20. It will be worth the added room. This one will work for a 6’3 person and friend but will be snug . I think I will actually keep this one And buy the next size up for the next time I go camping though, using this one as a “gear” tent or an extra for a friend to use. This is the only reason I do not give 5 stars.

Great ONE PERSON tent, Average two person tent, December 1, 2014

I’m pretty torn on this purchase. On the one hand, I was aware from the other reviews that it was tight for a 2 person tent. On the other hand, it is still advertised as a 2 person tent, so there was a certain expectation level. Might be best to do a pros and cons list to explain.

    Pros:
Went up in a snap. Once I figured out the dismantle process (make a taco, face the taco towards you, push the top of the taco back, and voila), it was a snap. Those steps will make sense to you if you get the tent.

It stayed super dry during heavy rain one night 2 of 2 using it. But…

    Cons:
When I went to open the door, all the rain from the fly slid down and in to the tent, because of the way the door opens. I was actually able to wring the door out, but again, since it will then be hovering over the inside of the tent, all that water goes, you guessed it…inside the tent.

Size. This is what really got me. The trip involved me (6′ 220lb) and my 6 year old daughter. I figured, for the two of us, a small 2 person would be fine. I purchased 2 of the coleman skinny twin mattresses. Upon doing the math, I knew I would literally have one inch to spare, but I was fine with that. Well either the mattresses are wider than the 26″ they claim or the tent is way smaller than the 54″ they claim. Either way, the mattresses were pushing out against the sides of the tent. This made the door very difficult to close, since it was creating tension. To the tent’s credit, even with something touching the outside, it stayed dry.

So I don’t know how coleman can call it a 2 person tent when their own skinny mattresses don’t even fit inside. End of the day, I highly recommend this 1 person tent. However I’ll be selling this 2 person tent for a larger one. Oh, and it’s only $44 on walmart.com, so if you’re getting it, go there!

    BUY A DIFFERENT TENT, August 28, 2014
    By
    Jon

This review is from: Coleman Pop-Up Tent (Sports)
I would not recommend this tent.

I will first begin with the Pros:

As advertised, this tent sets up with ease and pops open instantly.

The tent itself is roomy for a 2 person tent, and i was surprised and happy to see that the rain-fly is already on the tent. No need to put the rain fly on after the tent pops up.

Another pro for this tent, is that you can pull back the sides of the rainfly to expose the top vents, which allows you to see the stars while camping.

Unfortunately, the cons of this tent outweigh the pros…

I was aware of the first con before i purchased the tent, so this wasn’t a surprise. The tent folds into a three foot diameter disk, rendering it fairly useless for backpacking. This tent is meant for casual camping.

The zippers are very low quality, and are quite a chore to zip back up. This was expected because of the low price.

The polyester fabric used for the tent is very thin, so don’t expect it to stand up to any sort of abuse. You must be verrrry careful with this tent. Also, not all that surprised given the very low price.

And lastly, the worst part of this tent: be prepared for your tent to completely break and be rendered useless.

The fiberglass poles used in the construction of this tent are extremely weak. In order to pack this tent up, there is a process that involves twisting and bending these poles. As you can imagine, twisting and bending weak fiber glass poles is a recipe for disaster..

The very first time packing up this tent, after reading the instructions very carefully multiples times (I have read about other tents of similar construction having the poles break during repacking, so I wanted to make sure I didn’t experience the same issue. I also, watched repacking videos on youtube, so I had ample understanding of the mechanics) I began to repack the tent, verrrrry carefully. I followed the instructions to the T, and was sure not to apply too much pressure while I folded the tent up. Even after being extremely careful, and following the steps properly, the pole twisted and shredded with very little pressure.

At this point, the tent still stood, but one side was bowed out because of the broken pole. Upon the second repacking, the poles broke in another location rendering the tent almost completely useless.

This seems to be a common problem with Pop-up tents that involve bending fiber glass poles to repack into a disk shape.

My advice: spend a little more money on a better quality tent, so that you don’t have to worry about returning the product after one use.

I am going to spend a little more money and try a different style pop-up tent (top hub system) from a different manufacturer and see if that works better.

Luckily Amazon Prime offers free returns, which is awesome, so shipped the tent out today and will most likely receive the refund soon. 5 stars for Amazon, 1 star for Coleman.
